I’ve been posting on social media about rereading the original Conan stories and, with an eye on purple prose, a well-meaning fan pointed me toward an infamous sword & sorcery story called The Eye of Argon.
For me Eye of Argon is the fantasy equivalent of The Room, but with an unhappy ending. I've been working on updating the thoughts I had on the book in 2014 (https://www.geekeratimedia.com/2014/04/the-eye-of-argon-or-when-community.html) with current discussions of Toxic Fandom. We are far too often snobbish, and I am including myself here.
A part of my update was inspired by the recent Twitter/X conversation about Jason and Willow where she was shamed out of ever being a DM again.
I'm sure you've been asked this lots already but are there any plans for an oversized hardcover for your run on Conan? I really want to check it out after the FCBD issue and enjoying your previous writing but would like to avoid double dipping, though if there is a cheap digital sale I might do that...
There's been discussions at Titan, but I have no idea when something like that will happen. Trust me, if it does I'll be hyping it up well before release.
It's a double-edged sword nowadays. You can publish with some anonymity because there's such a deluge of stuff being put out every day. (Hell, even here on Substack.)
On the other end, your detractors have never had an easier time knocking you down while you learn the ropes.
It's easier said than done, but sometimes you just have to put your head down and power through while trying to improve.

This is a story screaming for a short documentary.

“Do what you can’t”

Theis should have gotten his piece properly edited before he sent it.
