More than anything, you quickly learn how similar we all are. We may have differences in the specifics (customs and so on), but at the end of the day, most regular people are the same regardless of where they live.
It's easy to feel like we've never left high school and feel the need to put people in boxes, but the truth is that most people are just trying to be happy. Getting outside of your well-trodden environment is a great reminder of that.
